I had the chance to go out to lunch with my very citified niece. She lives in Providence and is very familiar with many of the restaurants there as she is a restaurant manager. We went out on a beautiful Sunday afternoon and weren't sure what we felt like having. but she suggested. We looked st many Yelp reviews and she saw this Mexican restaurant listed. I am so glad that she did.
It is lovely inside and I would never have found it on my own being right outside of Olneyville. It also has an outside patio and a separate room with a bar. Who knew that all of this would be found on this main street. And it doesn't even feel like a main street when you are sitting inside. It's very cozy and comfortable and I really love the ambience.
We decided to start with appetizers so we got the tostada and nachos and a tamale. The tostado was loaded with goodies and the tamale was rolled in the corn husk and cooked to perfection. I added some of their salsa to mine which made it even better. We ordered the nachos without meat and really they were a meal in themselves. Different kinds of beans with a couple of cheeses and salsa and pickled jalapenos just made it perfect. We enjoyed our appetizers so much that we couldn't even order the meal. Everything was excellent and I look forward to going back there very soon. -

After reading the reviews on here, I went in expecting great homemade salsas, and authentic food, but I was disappointed with the authenticity of the food. It did not taste like home, and was not particularly good. The prices were not all that great either - its more expensive than most Mexican places, and the taste does not come anywhere near close. If you're looking only for better taste, I'd recommend other places like La Hacienda or Viva Mexico more. In terms of the service, the waiters were hard to flag down, the food took forever to be brought out, and some people in our party received cold food. I don't think I will be coming back here. -

This was my first time coming to this place, I had a very tight schedule and needed to grab a quick bite, I called and place my order via phone, the moment I walked in they gave me a table, my food came within 2 minutes, it was delicious, warm and the portion was big. At the end the owner gave me a churro for free . Highly recommended!! Expect authentic Mexican food and the enchiladas to be spicy.

Based on the reviews I came in expecting a lot. I had a really mixed experience so I am a bit conflicted writing this review. This is a nice place when you walk in and I really liked that they had the Tamale and Taco specials listed on the board. It was helpful to me because I was seated across from it. I saw others have to get up from their seats and walk in prefer to find out that meats were available which is inconvenient.
Rarely do I experience poor service, but tonight it seemed as if the server was distracted and was not very attentive to us. We were one of two parties in the place and there were two servers so in theory we shouldn't have had the wait we did. I ordered a beer, the first on the menu and she came back after 5 minutes to tell me they didn't have any (the cooler was 15 feet away from our table).
We started with the Queso Fundido, which wasn't on the menu but since I saw it on Yelp we asked for it. I added peppers and chorizo and I thought it was very good.
I ordered a couple of Tamales, one chicken and one pork. Both were good, particularly the pork one. I also got 3 Tacos; Shrimp, not bad, the Al Pastor, very good, and the Carne Asada. The Carne Asada was a thin sliced beef, think a bit thicker than shaved steak, and had an "off" taste to it.
Bummed that it didn't meet the expectations that were set by other Yelpers. -

Always hit up this place before going to Freeplay bar and arcade for pre drinks and food. If you're looking for authentic and rich flavors this is a great spot. Their different array of meats and options for vegetarians is amazing. As well as the levels of spice! I really love spicy food.
The "Camarones a la diabla" were spicy but not overwhelming, cooked in a mango papaya habanero salsa, and comes with rice and a side of bread. Perfect with an ice cold beer.
